Fruit and Fries for my fabulous and funny friendly friends!!

Hello Everybody!!
Mrs. J is back and ready for action(says Gavin)! Her horrible, awful, no good very bad headache is GONE!!! Hooray for Mrs. J!!! Today is the lovely F day and we have had a FABULOUS F day! We started our day off a little different because Mrs. J had to take a test this morning. We all got scared because we didn't think she was here, but alas, she showed up and saved the day... again (says Connor)! After Mrs. J showed up, we started with our famous morning meeting. We sang our famous songs, we fixed our famous calendar and we read our famous morning message! It was FUN and FABULOUS! After morning meeting, we did Animal Cards. We finished up our trip to the Bangladesh Mangrove Forest. We learned about the King Cobra and the peafowl. Did you know that a male peafowl is called a peacock and the female peafowl is called a peahen? Way cool! Now, we are traveling to the Pennsylvania Forest. We like it there(says Connor). Hopefully tomorrow's we'll have more time to spend in the forest!

After animal cards, we went to the computer lab for our special. We were able to do any website we know about, like Ticket to Read, VMath Live, Tumblebooks, BrainPop, FunBrain, Poptropica and many others. It was FUN and FABULOUS! After the computer lab, we came back to Mrs. J's room for math. Some friends headed out to go to math with Mrs. Coleman while other friends stayed to do work stations in Mrs. J's room. For our math journal today, the friends had to help Mrs. J from her pups getting into a fight over goldfish! Mrs. J had 50 goldfish and had to split the goldfish into 2 equal groups so that each pup got an equal amount and they wouldn't fight! It was FANTASTIC and FUN! Following math, we got our lunches and headed to the café! It was YUMMY!

After lunch, we came back to the classroom for reading centers. We did something new in reading centers today. We did a matching game on the SmartBoard with synonyms and antonyms. It was really FUN and FANTASTICAL! Some of our second graders got to go on a tour of the third grade classrooms. Then the second graders and third graders got to go to the fourth grade classrooms together. They had a great time and were also able to talk to the third graders to find out about how awesome third grade is going to be next year!

We also got a great treat today from Isana's mom! She brought in lots of yummy fruit and french fries for F day. It was FANTASTIC and really FABULOUSLY FUN! After our fruit snack, we headed outside for some fun at P.E.2. We just came back into the classroom and boy does the air conditioning feel good! We did have lots of fun outside but we are glad to be back in the classroom now writing this blog to you!!

We hope you have a great rest of your F day and happy E day eve to all and to all a good night!!

Love the FUN, FUNNY, and FABULOUS friends in Mrs. J's classroom,
Connor, Ellie, Megan, Ben, José Manuel, Jennifer, Ethan, Caroline, Matthew, Nate, Jamie, Justin, Joshua, Lucy, Isana, Gavin, Makayla, and Audrey

H Day Headache Attacks Mrs. J!!

Hello my little peeps and fellow followers!
It's so nice to be writing to you again after the attack of the H day headache yesterday! I'm so sorry I had to leave early, my little peeps, but the H day headache attacked Mrs. J hard and there was nothing she could do but go home and fight the headache away with rest, puppies and sleep! I am doing much better today and am hoping you had a great rest of the H day!

We had a pretty good start to the day with our famous morning meeting! We sang our famous songs, fixed our famous calendar and we even read our famous morning message! We were lucky enough to go see Mrs. Cushing two days in a row for a FREE Day in Music! After Music, we came back to Mrs. J's room for Math where we tried something new. We did work stations. We had 5 work stations set up all around the classroom. We had complete independence on what station we wanted to do and when we wanted to do it. It was pretty awesome! We got do the Smart Board station, the dice game station, the flash card station, the station with tubs or the station with V-Math Live on the computers. During our stations, Mrs. J would call us up to work on math skills for next year. The little guys aka kindergarteners are working on carrying in double digit addition and the first graders are working on carrying with three digit addition!! The second graders are working on multiplication and division which is really fun!

After Math we went to lunch and then had reading centers. For reading centers, we did lots of HAPPY things! For science center, we got to do quiz, quiz, trade on our dry erase boards and that was really neat. For activity center, we finished up our following directions game from the day before by using the back of our paper to write down our H words and draw the pictures to go along with our H words. For writing centers, we wrote about what we would do if we could have 5 wishes today. We wrote about what our wishes would be and why we picked the wishes we did. It was awesome!

Well, my little peeps, I think we had a good H day and I'm glad to be writing to you and feeling so much better. I hope you are having a great G day today and have a super fantastic three day weekend! See you again on Tuesday my lovely little peeps!!

All my love,
The Happy Mrs. J

Good morning everybody on the web (says José Manuel again;-)

Happy I Day to you!! How are you doing on this non-ICKY ICE CREAM eating I day? We are all doing ICING-RIFIC today! We just finished our famous morning meeting. We just finished singing our famous songs, fixing our famous calendar and reading our famous morning message! It was ICING-TASTIC! We are writing our blog to you this morning because today is Wednesday and we do not have writing on Wednesdays. Mrs. J did not want to write the blog all by herself so that's why her friends said, "It's okay, Mrs. J, we'll write it with you this morning!" Mrs. J is now a very happy non IGUANA-like teacher!!!

We are getting ready to go to Music today and we are so excited! Today is going to be a FREE DAY in Music!! That means we get to do fun things like play some instruments, sing, dance, play puzzles, play on the SmartBoard and a ton of other really cool things. Lucy says we even get to sit next to any friend we want- that is pretty ICING-RIFIC!!

After Music today, we are going to go to Math. The friends in Mrs. J's room are doing a MYSTERIOUS activity today. She is not going to tell her little ICING peeps what they are going to do because it would take away the surprise! Once we finish up Math for the day, we are going to go to Lunch! WOOHOO for lunch! After lunch, we are going to eat some ICE-CREAM thanks to the awesomeness of Audrey!! YEAH for Audrey!!

For reading centers today, we are going to do some fun stuff. The second grader friends are going to continue reading Helen Keller. They love Helen Keller! For Science today, we are going to make fireworks with milk! It is going to be ICEE-RIFIC!! In activity today, we are going to try and write as many I words as we can think of- how many do you think we can come up with? I think we can come up with 14 or more ;-) (says Ben).

After reading centers, it will be time to go home and get ready for H day tomorrow. So we will sign off with you now and wish you a very early Happy H day eve to all and to all a good night!

Jump roping, Jiving and Jell-O eating jeepers peepers!!

Hello Everybody On the Web (says José Manuel)!!

Happy J Day to you!! We have had a jumping and jiving J day today! We started our day off with our famous morning meeting. We sang our famous songs, we fixed our famous calendar and we read our famous message! After morning meeting, we did Animal Cards! We traveled to the Bangladesh Mangrove Forest and learned about the gray mongoose and we got the animal card for the royal bengal tiger (but we haven't been able to learn about it yet...bummer!) After animal cards, we went to P.E. In P.E. today, we learned all about good foods to eat that are healthy and would be good choices for our bodies. It was JIVE-RIFIC!

After P.E., we went to Math. In Mrs. J's math class we did a Jumping Jeepers on J day math problem. There were seven funky animals in a line and we had to answer questions about their position. It was the same type of problem as K day but a little different because the pictures were animals and not PEEPS! Everybody in Mrs. J's room had fun! Friends from Mrs. Coleman's class did some other things- they wished they were hanging with the other J's peeps!

After Math, we went to lunch and then came back for reading centers. For reading centers today, we did lots of fun things. For science, we wrote about animals and the habitats that they live in. It is set up in a list so it is easy for Mrs. J and other people to read and learn about those specific animals. For activity today, we had to come up with as many words as we could from the line, "Jumping and Jiving in Jeepers' Jungle." It was pretty JIVE-TASTIC! For writing today, we wrote in our family journals which was JIVE-DERFUL and it was something to enjoy (says Caroline). Following reading centers, we went out side for recess. We had Jell-O thanks to Isana! YEAH for Isana! The Jell-O was JIVE-RIFIC!

Did you know that the clouded leopard can climb headfirst down a tree? Did you know that there are four subspecies of the animal Takin? Did you know that 2 of those species are endangered and the other two are vulnerable. We learned that they are endangered and vulnerable because of habitat loss. It makes Mrs. J really sad. It is so KRAZY!!

After animal cards, we went to the library to preview the Book Fair!! It was so KRAZY! We saw lots of books that we wanted to buy and can't wait to go to the book fair with our moms and dads. Did you know that the book fair is going to be open on Thursday night because of the big Art Show? That would be a great time to get books, have fun and look at all the pretty artwork! Bring your moms, dads, sisters, brothers and anybody else for this KRAZY fun time!

We had to figure out their position in line and then answer tricky questions about who was next to who and what position they were in line. It was KRAZY!! After Math, it was time for lunch and boy was that KRAZY! Lunch is always crazy but today is was KRAZY like a K day KRAZY!!

We came back from lunch and had reading centers. For Activity today, we finished up our follow directions game with words that start with the letter K. It was KRAZY fun (says Connor)! Art was really MARVELOUS, MAGICAL, AND MAGNIFICENT today!

After Art, we came back to Mrs. J's room for Math. Some friends left to go to Mrs. Coleman's room for Math while the rest of the friends stayed in Mrs. J's room. In Mrs. J's room today we had to help her solve a MEGA MATH Problem. Mrs. J's problem was to help her separate 24 muffins into two equal groups so that her two silly puppies don't get into a fight. Everybody did a great job and found out that the answer was each pup gets 12 muffins and there was no fighting between the puppies! Now Mr. J didn't get any muffins so he wasn't so happy but at least the puppies were happy :-)

After Math, we went to lunch!! Hip, Hip, Hooray for Lunch! After lunch, we came back for reading centers. Today in activity, we followed Mrs. J's silly M day directions. Hello Everybody!
Happy O Day to you! We have had an outrageously orange day today! We did our famous morning meeting where we sang our famous songs, we fixed our famous calendar and we read our famous morning message! We also got to do Animal Cards this morning! We love it when the Internet is working!! We traveled to the Bamboo Forest of China this morning. We're still pretty tired from our flight back but we did learn about the golden monkey, the golden pheasant and the panda. Did you know that a panda eats for 14 hours a day?!!!!!! That's OUTRAGEOUS (says the whole crazy class)! That means that a panda sleeps for 10 hours a day- WOW! After Animal Cards, we went to P.E. We did Wacky Relays today. We had to complete a wacky obstacle course holding either a fish or a chicken!!! That's OUTRAGEOUS (thinks Mrs. J ;-)

After P.E., we had Math. For Math today, the friends in Mrs. J's room had to complete an OUTRAGEOUS pattern puzzle. Mrs. J tried to stump the class but she did not succeed. Everyone got the answers right and then they did the bonus! It took some friends a long time but they all got their skittle in the end! It was OUTRAGEOUS! Then we went to lunch. Following lunch, we came back to the classroom for centers. For Science today, we did a Venn Diagram where we compared two habitats. Everybody did a great job! For activity today, we did a following directions game. Friends had to write words on their papers that started with the letter O and then follow the directions on the board. For example, draw an octopus above the word octopus. It was really OUTRAGEOUS and fun! Finally, it was time for recess! We had an OUTRAGEOUS snack today! We had chocolate covered marshmallows which looked kind of like "O's" and we had orange (gold fish) plus we had some Chex because they looked kind of orange too. It was really an OUTRAGEOUS snack! Tales from the Terrific, Talented and Tremendous little Tweets!!

Hi Everybody!
Today is T Day and guess what?? It's T day on Tuesday (says Connor)! We had a TERRIFIC T day! You want to know what we did today? Well, we're going to tell you anyway! We started the day off with our famous Morning Meeting. We sang our famous songs, we fixed our calendar and we counted another ones block and found out that today is the 160th day of school! So, we deleted all our ones blocks and added another tens block to the pack. It was pretty terrific! After Morning Meeting, we went to P.E. where we played a game called, Giant's Cave (says the class so loud that Mrs. J hurt her ears!) Gavin and Isana were the giants and the rest of the class were running around the field with flags on their waists for Gavin and Isana to catch them. It was really terrific! After P.E., we came back to the classroom all hot and sweaty and it was terrific!! We did Math after P.E. In Mrs. J's class, we did a really neat Math Journal question (Connor says it was trivial but Mrs. J thinks it was significant) where the friends had to find things in the classroom that had more than 4 vertices and 4 sides and they also got to do some bonus questions! They were hard but they were also TERRIFIC! The friends who completed the whole challenge got two skittles for all their hard work- it was TERRIFIC!
Finally, it was time for lunch! We all had a TERRIFIC lunch! After lunch, we had centers and it was TERRIFIC! For Activity, we wrote about a person we admire the most and Mrs. J got a lot of admirations(says Connor) from her PEEPS! She felt very happy and TERRIFIC (says her peeps)!! In Science, we made a new flip-book for the newest habitat we are learning about. Our flip-book is about the Serengeti and it is TERRIFIC! Once centers were over, we had P.E.2 also known as the TERRIFIC recess (again says Connor)! Now we are finally relaxing in the classroom writing this blog to you. It feels TERRIFIC to be writing to you and the temperature in the classroom feels really TERRIFIC after a hot day on the playground!
Well, that's about all the TERRIFIC writing we have for you today and we hope you have also had a TERRIFIC, TALENTED, AND TREMENDOUS T day Tuesday!

Hello Everybody on the Blog!
Welcome back to our blog for U day! Today we had an awesome day! We started the day out with our famous Morning Meeting. We sang our favorite songs and we filled in the dates on the calendar. We also read the morning message and we added another ones block to our counting the days we have been in school. Can you believe that we've been in school for 159 days??? That's CCCCCCCRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZYYYYYY!
We were supposed to go to the library for our special today but the teacher was absent so we went to the computer lab instead. We played on Ticket To Read and it is a really fun game (says Connor). We were also lucky enough to watch some more of our Jeff Corwin movie. He is such a funny guy! We got to see a wallaby today and a blue-tongued skink! Did you know that the blue-tongued skink can make itself flat as part of its adaptation and camouflage?
After computer lab, we came back to the classroom for Math. The friends in Mrs. J's class did a really neat Math Journal question. They had to find things in the classroom that were cubes, cylinders, rectangular prisms, spheres and the bonus was having to find cones and pyramids! It was pretty tough but one friend managed to find them all and was rewarded the first new skittle- way to go, Gavin! Following Math, we went to lunch where we devoured our food!
Next came centers! For centers today, we wrote about how wonderful we were to our mothers on Mother's Day and for Science, we finished up all our unfinished work. For activity, we finished working on our Spider Maps. A spider map helps make our writing more organized and easier to make sentences. It makes it neater too (says Nate).
We just finished up a lovely time on the .....("Justin Byrd come to the office please"... says the office)... now back to what we were talking about!!! We had fun on the playground and now we are busy writing our blog to you. Thank you to all the wonderful peeps who have been leaving comments for us- WE LOVE COMMENTS!!

Have a understanding, unselfish and unbelievably awesome rest of your U day!
Love the peeps and peep-etts in Mrs. J's unboring (Connor says) class,
Connor, Ellie, Megan, José Manuel, Ben, Lucy, Joshua, Nate, Ethan, Matthew, Jamie, Caroline, Gavin, Isana, and Makayla

Plus the lovely Mrs. J and her amazing sidekick Mrs. Butler

Violin Concert takes place on V day in Mrs. J's room!!!!!

Hello Everybody!!
We are writing to you this afternoon after just listening to our lovely teacher, Mrs. J, playing the violin! She gave us a vibrant violin concert complete with the Indiana Jones Theme song (specifically for a friend named Ethan). This song was dedicated to Ethan because of his love for Indiana Jones and his amazing production of Lego Indiana Jones movies! We loved the concert!! We learned all about the violin and she even let us touch the horse hairs on her bow!! It was a way cool experience!!
We also did Animal Cards today! We just finished up the Canadian Rockies habitat. We learned about an animal called the Pika. Did you know his nickname is called, "Rock Rabbit?" We thought that was pretty cool. Then we took Smart Board Airways over to the Serengeti and we learned some interesting facts about the giraffe. Did you know that a giraffe's tongue is 18 inches long???? That's like the length of our arms!!!!! We decided to make a human giraffe in the classroom (Ellie, Gavin, Joshua, Caroline, Ethan, and Isana). Did you know that a giraffe can be almost 18 feet tall? We walked along our friends to make sure we got the measurements right! It was really fun!!
Before we started Math, Mrs. J lead us in some yoga! We love doing yoga before Math! After Math, we went to lunch and then we came back for centers! In writing center today, we wrote about our shares using a Spider Map. It was pretty cool because it taught us to organize our writing to put it into sentences easier. For activity, we got to play on Ticket to Read. In Science, we finished up some of our unfinished work. We also took our Spelling Tests today. There were a bunch of us that got perfect scores!! Ellie, Megan, Connor, Ethan, Justin, Gavin, Makayla, and Audrey all got perfect scores!!
Well everybody, we are going to go watch a movie about the Australian Grasslands with Jeff Corwin- we LOVE Jeff Corwin!! We hope you have a wonderful weekend and we'll write to you again on Monday!!
Love all of us peeps,
Connor, Ellie, Megan, Ben, José Manuel, Jennifer, Ethan, Caroline, Nate, Matthew, Jamie, Justin, Lucy, Joshua, Gavin, Isana, Audrey and Makayla
Plus the lovely Mrs. J

The Wild, Wonderful, and Wacky W day tales!

Hello Everybody!
Happy W Day to you! We have had a Wonderful W day today! We started our Wonderful W day off with our famous Morning Meeting. During Morning Meeting, we sing songs, we put the calendar pieces together, we read the morning message and we countdown to the last days of school with tens blocks. After Morning Meeting, we had some fun doing Animal Cards!! WE LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Animal Cards!!! Today we went to the Canadian Rockies for our new habitat. We learned about an animal named the Big Horned Sheep. Did you know that the male big horned sheep have horns that curl and weigh 30 pounds?!! We figured out that it would be like attaching Gavin to Mrs. J's forehead- CRAZY!! We finished up Animal Cards and headed out to our next favorite place, the Art Classroom! Today in Art, we put some animals in the tall, tall grass. We came back to the classroom after Art and worked on Math. We did something really cool in Math today. Mrs. J tried to trick us with her following directions game but we were too smart for that! We got everything right and we even did the bonus where we had to measure 6 things, draw a picture of them and label them. We got a jellybean for our prize!
Lunchtime finally came and we LOVE lunch! After lunch we came back to the classroom for centers! In centers today we had lots of fun. For writing center, we wrote letters to our friends our Littlewood. We hope to stay the Littlewood Letter Writing Champions! In activity today, we made cards for the wonderful Mom's in our lives. WE LOVE OUR MOMS SO MUCH! In library, we read books, more books, and more books! In science, we played a super fun game called Quiz, Quiz, Trade where we quiz our friends on things we have learned so far about habitats. We love playing Quiz, Quiz, Trade!
After centers comes our second favorite time of the day, P.E.2! We got to eat lots and lots of watermelon! We ran around the playground, climbed on the monkey bars and some of our friends even tried to camouflage in the sand!
We are going to finish up our day today by writing our blog to you, readers. We had a great day today and can't wait until V day tomorrow- Mrs. J even said she's going to bring her violin to play for us! WOW, Mrs. J- you better practice tonight!!
Love the wild, wacky peeps who wrote you this post,
Connor, Ellie, Megan, José Manuel, Ben, Jennifer, Jamie, Joshua, Lucy, Makayla, Nate, Audrey, Justin, Gavin, Isana, Matthew, Caroline, Ethan and your silly Mrs. J

eXciting X Day in Mrs. J's class!

Hello again friends and families!!
Happy X day to you all!! We have started our X day out in a very eXciting and eXcellent fashion! We are doing clubs this morning and are making all sorts of neat things for our Mom's that we love so much and cooking till our little fingers are so sore that they can't move anymore! After clubs we get to go to Music which is one of our favorite specials classes. We love Mrs. Cushing and we love to get up, move around, and dance with the music! After Music, we will do Math. In Math today, we are going to be trying to solve Mrs. J's tricky shopping spree challenge which helps us work more on learning about money. We're also going to be snacking on CheX mix because it is X day of course ;-)
After Math, we get to go to lunch and we love lunch! Following our fun time in lunch, we come back to the classroom for more work in reading centers. We love, love, love reading centers!! On Wednesdays in reading centers, we write in our clubs journals for writing time. We tell Mrs. J all about the fun things we did in our club because poor Mrs. J doesn't get to go to a club! In activity center today, we get to play on Ticket to Read which is a reading game online that lets us read stories and answer questions to earn tickets. We're trying to be the class at Littlewood who collects the most tickets- do you think we can do it? Mrs. J thinks we can do it!! In Science, we are going to finish working on our adaptation books. We are making up fantasy animals and writing about how they would adapt to their habitat. It is really fun and we have some really cool animals right now like a "Sharibou" and an "Womlizaroo." We can't wait to finish them and take them home for you to read them!!
Well, I guess we're going to go for this morning but we wanted to say hi and tell you to have the most eXciting, eXcellent, eXhilarating, and eXtreme X day!!!!
Love Mrs. J's eXcellent peeps,
Connor, Ellie, Megan, José Manuel, Jennifer, Ben, Caroline, Ethan, Matthew, Nate, Jamie, Lucy, Justin, Joshua, Gavin, Isana, Audrey and Makayla

26 days and counting!!

Hello Friends and Families!
We are celebrating the last days of school with the famous alphabet countdown! Yesterday was the first day of alphabet countdown and we wore zebra colors and zig-zagged at recess! We had tons of fun with the letter Z and today we are all decked out in our yellow shirts, socks, pants and yellow accessories! We are going to be yodeling at recess so watch out if you're close to Littlewood because you will definitely hear us :-) We are also going to be writing about a yellow, yelling yak and making sure to eat some yummy snacks!
We decided to start this blog so that we can tell you all about the fun things we are doing here at school to celebrate the last days. We are currently working on writing letters to pen pals in Burkina Faso, making new animals to add to the animals around the world and we're having a great time measuring all sorts of things around Mrs. J's classroom! Please feel free to write to us at anytime and on any day! We love to hear from you and we want you to be part of the fun too!
Love from the crazy peeps in Mrs. J's amazing multi-age classroom,
